The University of Southern Queensland Thought Leadership Series is set to launch – a new initiative aimed at inspiring engaging conversations and deeper insights on important issues shaping our communities and the world.

The series will bring together the minds driving ground-breaking research from within the University, along with external experts who are leading the way in their respective fields.

The Thought Leadership Series’ inaugural event – How Australia is Contributing to the Future of Space – will boast a star-studded panel of experts to discuss all things space: from exoplanets in far-away galaxies to missions to Mars, growing food in space and everything in between.

It will be held from 5.30pm on Wednesday 4 October at the Queensland Museum Theatre. Learn more and register for this event.

Space has always fascinated humanity, capturing our imagination and driving us to explore the unknown. Hear from a panel of space experts about how space exploration is becoming more accessible and increasingly important for modern civilisation. Space 2.0 holds immense potential for advancing scientific knowledge, technological innovation, and economic opportunities.

The panel event will be moderated by astronomy alumnus Dr Belinda Nicholson who is now a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for Women in STEMM at UniSQ.

The panellists include:

  • Dr Kimberley Clayfield – Space Research Program Director CSIRO
  • Dr Graziella Caprarelli – Adjunct Faculty Member International Space University
  • Professor Brad Carter – Director of the Centre for Astrophysics University of Southern Queensland
  • Dr Joni Sytsma – Chief Technology Officer iLAuNCH Trailblazer.
