PhD for fresh thinking
Peng is sitting on a black lounge, working on a laptop and smiling at the camera.

This driven academic student arrived to study his Master of Engineering. Now mid-way through his Doctor of Philosophy, he hopes to change the future of engineering materials.

Peng arrived from the bustling city of Shanghai in China to study engineering at UniSQ Toowoomba.

'I arrived to experience a comfortable Queensland climate and connected in quickly. At first, I chose to live in residential college, which helped me learn a lot about Australia and the culture of its people.'

Peng found the variety of extra-curricular activities exciting and the support, especially around exam time, very helpful. He mentioned that attending UniSQ’s Orientation was a great way of settling in and getting ready to study successfully.

'My studies to date have broadened my horizons and I believe that education in an English-speaking country will open up new career opportunities. There have also been a variety of engineering networking opportunities to help build my career.'

Peng has gained causal employment whilst studying which has expanded his connections and provided him with another great set of skills and experience to further develop his academic career. He also promotes his overseas study experience on his YouTube channel.
