Following her passion.

Nicole has been following her passion for flying since she was little and when she discovered the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) offered a Bachelor of Aviation, she knew it was the right path to go down.

"My Dad and Grandpa are both pilots and there wasn’t too much that interested me except for flying,” says Nicole.

“UniSQ ambassadors came to our school and it just seemed like such a fun university. I had wanted to do aviation for a while and in Year 12 I found out UniSQ offered it.”

UniSQ was the first of its kind in Australia to launch a flight simulation system, which aviation students get to experience in their first year.

At the end of Nicole's degree, she will receive her Commercial Pilot Licence and will be able to fly commercially as a career. To top it off, Nicole was offered a place in the Qantas Group Future Pilot Program.

'I was so excited to get into the Qantas Group Future Pilot Program through UniSQ! If you meet all the requirements and are successful in the recruitment process, you can progress to the waiting list to fly Turboprops for QantasLink.'

And while Nicole is well on her way to her dream career, she offers the one piece of advice that was a beacon to her during her journey to UniSQ.

The most important thing about starting your future is to follow your passion. If you have a dream, follow it and don't let people or stereo types get in the way.
