A lecturer and civil servant in Indonesia, Fitria is an Australia Awards scholarship recipient researching the rise in sedentary behaviour in Indonesian adolescents.
For Fitria, the UniSQ research path has been collaborative, allowing her to conduct new and meaningful research to make a difference to the future health of Indonesians.
'My PhD program began with two very important coursework subjects to help reinforce the choice and knowledge of selected research methodologies. My PhD supervisors have been very welcoming, providing me with a one-on-one orientation and individual support to face being a new student in Australia. The networking opportunities facilitated by the faculty have since added to my academic development and connected me with other liked-minded researchers from different universities.'
Fitria’s experience of UniSQ Springfield and Australia has been positive. She recalls assistance from UniSQ’s Health and Wellbeing Support Services and enjoys the conducive, 24-hour study facilities as part of the library services.
She hopes to influence the development of future health and education policy for Indonesia.
