Finding her niche with a degree in Special Education

After high school Bree Tedford had her heart set on becoming a teacher, but wasn’t sure which specialisation to choose within a Bachelor of Education. It was only when filling out her application when she decided to choose to focus on Special Education.

‘My first practical placement was actually my first experience working with children with disabilities and I knew I had found my home.’

‘I enjoy being creative and finding the best ways for students to access the curriculum and create purposeful learning activities for my students. It’s great to see the students grow and their responses when they enjoy their learning.’

A qualification in Special Education certainly opened up doors, with Bree landing a full-time position straight after university. In the future she aims to continue building her skills and making a difference in her students’ lives.

‘I’m very proud of what I do and don’t picture myself ever doing anything else. I’ve seen the progress my students can make and I know that they can do it, I just have to figure out how I can support them to learn.’
