UniPrep - new academic calendar FAQs
In 2023, UniSQ is introducing an innovative and new Academic Calendar that allows you to better manage your study load and structure your own degree progression to balance work, family, and university commitments.
Understanding the academic calendar
What academic calendar will be used for 2023 intakes?
UniPrep will be offered in the Combination calendar in 2023 – specifically Session 1 and Session 2.
The Combination calendar includes two 7-week Blocks and two 14-week Sessions.
Year 11 and 12 students will study in Session 1 and Session 2 but not in the Blocks of the Combination calendar.
How do I know what calendar I am in?
The staff at your high school will provide information of the starting and end dates for your UniPrep calendar.
Am I required to study in every study period with this calendar?
No. Year 11 and 12 students will study in Session 1 and Session 2 but not in the Blocks of the Combination calendar.
What makes the new calendar for my degree better?
The new calendar allows students to complete their work in line with their secondary studies. Session 1, commencing in March, allows time for students to enrol through their first term back at school and have all the necessary documentation completed.
Session 2 aligns appropriately with school terms and ensures the UniPrep course work can be completed before external exams begin, preventing any conflict with secondary study requirements.

Will I have to do any courses in another calendar?

About the degree
Why should I choose to study UniPrep at UniSQ?
UniSQ's UniPrep program enables high school students to develop the skills, knowledge and attributes needed to successfully transition from high school to university study. It provides a way in which non-ATAR students can achieve the English subject pre-requisite for entry to a range of UniSQ undergraduate programs. It also provides a university pathway for student cohorts from regional and remote Australia, low socio-economic backgrounds, and the First Nations community LSES students.
The program is delivered in partnership with your school, and your university preparatory courses in years 11 and 12 can be identified in your Senior Education and Training (SET) plan.
