Overview

  • UniSQ's Master of Cyber Security (Business Application) enables you to appropriately and effectively respond to cyber threats to limit the impact on business activities and performance.
  • Discover what motivates cyber criminals, and delve into digital forensic investigations after a security breach and learn how to manage these in an organisational context. 
  • Graduates will be able to make ethical decisions in regards to privacy and security in big data visualisation projects as well as analyse the strengths and challenges of data mining techniques to detect cyber security incidents in business environments.
  • The hands-on capstone research project will harness your skills to work with industry and apply theory to practice in a collaborative, laboratory environment at UniSQ's or in your own workplace.  

Career outcomes

  • You will graduate ready to apply your knowledge to a range of contexts and scenarios in government, law enforcement and industry.
  • Implement your skills as a cyber security professional and begin your career as an ethical hacker, digital forensic analyst, security auditor, security software developer, cryptographer, cryptanalyst, security consultant or IT Manager. 

Entry requirements 

  • 3-year bachelor degree, or equivalent qualification, from a recognised university.

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

You may be eligible for recognition of prior learning if you have previously studied or have relevant work experience. This will help to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.

To complete this degree students must complete 16 units. Most courses (similar to ‘subjects’) are valued at 1 unit. To study full-time you would usually complete 4 units per semester.
