New academic calendar FAQs

In 2023, UniSQ is introducing an innovative and new Academic Calendar that allows you to better manage your study load and structure your own degree progression to balance work, family, and university commitments.

Understanding the academic calendar

In 2023, the Master of Business, Graduate Diploma of Business and Graduate Certificate of Business will be offered in the Trimester and Block academic calendars.

Trimester is a study period of equal length occurring three times each year. Typically 14 weeks duration, it includes a 2-week teaching recess and a final assessment week.

The Block calendar consists of short 6-8 week study periods that typically includes 6 weeks of teaching, an optional 7th week for assessment and a 1-week study break.

The Trimester calendar offers a great deal of flexibility to allow you to speed up or slow down your studies. It also allows for a break in your studies over the end of year holiday period without impacting your chosen completion time.
Yes, you will. Depending on when you start studying the Master of Business you will complete up to 3 courses in the Block calendar. All other courses are offered in the Trimester calendar.
The Block and Trimester calendars don't offer any courses from mid-December to mid-January so there'll be plenty of opportunity to have a break from your studies. Download the academic calendars to view all key dates throughout the 2023 academic year:
