  • If you haven’t completed high school or you’re new to study, the UniSQ’s Diploma of University Studies (Social Studies) will ensure you’re ready for tertiary study.
  • Apart from the core courses, you can choose to explore approaches to social sciences, ethical issues and human rights, psychology or anthropology to start your career in social services.

Further study

As a graduate of this program, you will be eligible to apply for direct entry into a range of UniSQ undergraduate degrees including the Bachelor of Human Services. If you choose to go on to further studies some subjects that you choose could also count as credit toward your undergraduate degree.

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Degree structure

To complete this degree students must complete 8 units. Most courses (similar to ‘subjects’) are valued at 1 unit. To study full-time you would usually complete 4 units per semester.

Once accepted into the degree, you will need to complete the diagnostic exercises (PDF 382KB) in mathematics, e-literacy, and English communication skills to assist staff in determining your level of reading comprehension, written expression, and mathematical understanding.

Students who have completed four units of study within the Diploma may be able to exit out of the degree with a Certificate of University Studies qualification.
