Professional accreditation

This major is accredited by the Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA). Students enrolled in or after Semester 2, 2020 who have successfully met mandatory attendance requirements as well as a minimum of 400 hours of professional placement (fieldwork) will be eligible to apply for ACWA membership.

Career outcomes

  • As a graduate of this degree you will possess skills in assessment, rehabilitation and case management and be well-equipped to be a leader within the Human Services sector.

Pre-requisites

To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:

  • English (Units 3 & 4, C)

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

If you have previously studied in your home country, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.

Professional experience

As part of the degree, you will need to complete professional experience placements. These experiences provide you with opportunities to put theory into practice.

All students must be able to meet the physical and other professional requirements of professional practice within this degree.

Residential schools

If you are enrolled in the External study mode in this degree, you will have the opportunity to come on-campus for residential schools, where you will attend face-to-face lectures and tutorials, use the facilities and meet staff and other students.

Note: If you are enrolled in the External study mode in this degree, you will be required to attend a mandatory 3-day residential school as part of ACWA accreditation requirements.
