Overview

  • The Professional Photography major is available in UniSQ’s Bachelor of Communication and Media.
  • The major is designed for students who wish to learn how to produce quality photographic work for the communications and media industries.
  • Learn skills for a career in photography, and develop your knowledge of action and events coverage; sports photography; fashion and street photography; scientific and forensic photography; aerial and drone photography; landscape and nature; time lapse photography; portraiture; and fine art photography.
  • Internships in third-year courses provide opportunities for professional practice in industry.
  • You will develop a professional portfolio of images to showcase your skills to future employers.
 

Career outcomes

  • The Photography major will enable graduates to become photographic practitioners across a range of communications and media sectors.
  • Take your photographic skillset to a professional career in journalism, advertising, public relations, or marketing.

Pre-requisites

To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:

  • English (Units 3 & 4, C)

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

If you have previously studied in your home country, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.

To complete this degree students must complete 24 units. Most courses (similar to ‘subjects’) are valued at 1 unit. To study full-time you would usually complete 4 units per semester.
