The Australian national curriculum includes provisions for the teaching of Indigenous perspectives to all students through the integration of the "Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures" cross-curriculum priority. This study will investigate this priority within the History curriculum for years 7-10 and the impact of cultural understandings on pedagogy and teaching methodologies in regard to Indigenous knowledges and histories. Using a pragmatic approach, data from document analysis and semi-structured interviews with history teachers and curriculum leaders will be analysed by thematically utilising Nakata's Cultural Interface Theory.  The research is anticipated to culminate in a comparison of perceptions and actual practices of embedding Indigenous perspectives in education, ultimately contributing to more culturally responsive and inclusive educational practices.
