The research journey is a liminal time/space marked by intellectual and emotional challenges. Dr Nicolette Buirski will be presenting advanced training on navigating liminal spaces in the HDR journey, exploring the role of mindfulness traits in mitigating liminality, and how to manage the tacit dimension of the doctoral supervisory relationship. The workshop is designed for HDR students and supervisors.

Proposed Learning Outcomes
•             Better understand liminality and its impact on successful outcomes in the HDR journey
•             Practice and embed mindfulness traits promoted by positive psychology that mitigate the emotional impacts of liminality
•             Develop expertise in communication and interpersonal skills to develop highly valued supervisory relationships

Dr Nicolette Buirski is an academic at Southern Cross University. She teaches in SCU College and supports HDR students through delivering seminars and facilitating workshops for supervisors to develop mindfulness traits in their professional relationships. Her Doctor of Philosophy focused on transformative learning relationships within supervisory teams and she is contributing editor and/or author for over 40 publications. She has given keynote addresses for international events, including the International Doctoral Education Research (IDERN) Event – Doctoral Excellence and Wellbeing (2022).
