Many mental disorders begin in adolescence. Learning how risk factors interact during this time can help guide the development of early interventions. Interpersonal problems and trauma symptoms are two risk factors that will be investigated in this research. Through three studies, this research aims to investigate factors that mediate the relationship between trauma and interpersonal problems in adolescents, to develop an effective intervention for this population. The first study will involve a meta-analysis to assess the effectiveness of psychological interventions for PTSD and CPTSD for adolescents. The second study aims to identify models explaining the relationship between trauma and interpersonal problems among adolescents. Information from the first two studies will inform intervention for interpersonal problems among adolescents with PTSD or CPTSD symptoms. This forms the basis of the third study, which will be intervention mapping for interpersonal problems for adolescents with PTSD or CPTSD symptoms.
