Cyclones pose a considerable threat to the people who live in Oman, largely because this country is adjacent to the Arabian Sea where cyclones often originate. Research shows that being prepared helps to reduce the impact of cyclones. This study aims to investigate the level of householders’ preparedness for cyclones in Oman, a topic that is important but that has not yet been researched. It is believed that a household is prepared for natural hazards if the householder is well-prepared. Thus, only the householders (head of the household) have been considered as respondents in this research.. The study will apply the Protective Action Decision Model (PADM) and will determine the influence of community bondedness and cyclone experience on psychological factors. The research will also identify the influence of psychological factors on the level of physical preparedness.
