eLearning Objects Repository (eLOR)
Any UniSQ staff member can contribute objects to eLOR. Objects can be contributed to the eLOR client or via the Add an activity or resource functionality within Moodle. Objects are contributed once; thus enabling sharing, discovery and re-use of objects.
Different file formats of one object should be loaded as one item in eLOR. Make one contribution for a lecture, and attach the various formats (PowerPoint, MP3, MP4) to the item. You can than place one link on StudyDesk to all files.
Please note: for your objects to be included with course migrations, items should be added to eLOR.
Managing your content
- Use descriptive titles to enable easy discovery.
- Minimise the use of course codes in the content and description of learning objects e.g. Lecture notes – the four Ps of Marketing instead of LIB1000 lecture notes.
- When creating a learning object, include your name and the year created, so that you can be identified as the creator.
Once items are live in eLOR, you will need to ask Library staff to delete items for you.
Where possible use Open Access or Open Education content, particularly images in documents and lectures. Using Open Access or Creative Commons content will reduce the amount of additional data you need to add to eLOR. For copyrighted and licensed material you will need to add additional information to the item in the eLOR.
When adding objects to eLOR you will need to select the applicable copyright category. This will enable UniSQ to:
- provide copyright warning notices (required under the Copyright Act)
- report usage of copyrighted materials to external agencies (used to calculate UniSQ’s copyright and licence charges).
If your content includes non-UniSQ owned copyrighted content, it must be stored in either eLOR or DiReCt for reporting purposes (in accordance with the Intellectual Property Policy).
There are three types of searching available in eLOR:
- keyword search - a simple Google-like search
- advanced search - allows keyword searching of specific data fields e.g. title, author
- browse search - a hierarchical search which allows you to drill down based on certain predetermined criteria, such as:
- school and course
- learning object type and format.
To find items you have contributed, click on the My Resources tab and use the filter to refine your search.
