This unique opportunity provides Year 10 to 12 students an on-campus experience where they can delve further into different fields of study and get a taste of life as a UniSQ student. Students will also participate in sessions led by UniSQ’s Academic professionals, providing an opportunity for students to meet their future University lecturers!
Parents interested in learning more about UniSQ are invited to participate in campus tours beginning at 9.00am and 1.30pm.
In Session 1, students will have the option to select one of the following:
Animation
- Join us in our computer labs and learn the basics of animation. Animation skills are highly regarded within film, television, games and interactive media industries.
Aviation
- Whether you want to complete pilot training to pursue a commercial pilot career or develop your mechanical engineering skills, learn from our Aviation lecturers about future career pathways.
Business
- Join us to consider the future of business and address wicked problems, identified by the UN. As a group, consider how to address a wicked problem that relates to your community.
Civil Engineering – Bridge Construction
- Students will construct a bridge with limited resources and time constraints following a presentation about Civil Engineering and Construction Management.
Education – Why Teach?
- You probably already have some idea about becoming a teacher because you are at school, but there’s more to know! This session will help you to identify the personal attributes and core skills needed to become a great teacher.
Engineering – Simple Machine Gears
- Identify and list parts of a toy gear box. Assemble the gears according to the instructions provided. Enclose gears into the plastic housing with the motor. Power the gear box and keep running and observe the motor speed.
Film & Screen Production
- Ever wonder what it takes to make your own movie? Join the filmmaking team and get hands-on experience in making a short film.
Surveying
- Experience Surveying at UniSQ through our drones in a surveying activity led by our UniSQ academics.
Television & Radio Production – Radio Workshop
- In this session students will learn the difference between radio and podcasting, create a fun group podcast, and be inspired to become a podcaster or broadcaster!
In Session 2, students will have the option to select one of the following:
Anthropology
- Develop skills in cultural analysis, critical thinking, and communication to examine critical questions about some of society’s most pressing issues, such as religious and cultural conflict, gender discrimination, racism, food security and other social inequalities.
Aviation
- Whether you want to complete pilot training to pursue a commercial pilot career or develop your mechanical engineering skills, learn from our Aviation lecturers about future career pathways.
Civil Engineering – Bridge Construction
- What is civil engineering? What will I study as a civil engineering student? What can I do with a civil engineering degree? Students will learn about civil engineering and then work in a team to construct a bridge.
Construction Management
- Interested in construction management roles such as a site managment or property development? UniSQ's construction degrees will give you the knowledge, skills and expertise you'll need, alongside a strong foundation in engineering principles to tackle problems in the workforce.
Engineering Pressure Proof Structures
- Can you build the strongest structure? Learn basic engineering principles, build your structure then test how strong it is in the compression strength machine.
Journalism
- Learn what it takes to be a journalist and practice the skills of high-quality and professional journalism in this hands-on session.
Television & Radio Production – Television Workshop
- In this session students will learn about broadcast television in our own UniSQ studio!
