Years 9 - 10 school students are invited to UniSQ campuses to discover all that UniSQ has to offer.
UniSQ Discovery Days offer year 9 and10 high school students opportunities to explore the variety of career pathways available to them. Teachers are invited to register their interest in our school engagement activities.
Meet our students and staff
These tailored, taster-style sessions are designed by our academics to help your students find skills they are good at and enjoy and identify a range of satisfying careers for their future. There will also be the opportunity to talk to our student ambassadors who will be able to share their experiences at UniSQ and answer questions about university life.
How to Register
Please register your interest in attending a Discovery Day using the link above. Teachers can indicate the approximate number of students they wish to attend. Please note a maximum limit may apply. More places may become available depending on the overall interest in the event. Once you register your school, each student must register individually to confirm their place. A link will be available in the teacher's confirmation email.

Wildlife leave lots of clues when they visit your backyard. Learn how to identify who has visited using a variety of methods and spend some time in the shoes of a wildlife management student.Agriculture and Environment - Moisture monitoring mastery
Water is the most limiting factor for many of our cropping systems in Australia. The two big questions are: “How much can my soil hold” and “How much water should I apply”. Soil moisture sensors are one way in which farmers can keep track of the soil water balance and decide when their crop needs to be irrigated. In this activity we will get our hands dirty learning about the soil properties and use a soil moisture probe to measure the soil moisture.

How good is your sense of smell and what role does it play in our enjoyment of food and the design of new products? Can you identify common aromas found in food and beverages. This hands-on activity will explore the some of the valuable skills for a career in food science.
Agriculture and Environment - Animal AgTech
You will get a taste of the technology and sensors used in Animal Science. You will explore hands-on learning about animal health, welfare and behaviour, nutrition and reproduction and the roles of sensors and technology.
Aviation - The future of aviation
Discover Aviation at USQ through our discover Aviation activity. In this activity, students will create a paper plane using the fundamentals concepts taught in aviation. This 45 minute session will give you an hands-on look at Aviation led by our own UniSQ students.Business and Management - Reimagining your tuckshop
Turn your school tuckshop into a sustainable, nutritious and socially responsible business, in this interactive workshop. You will learn the business principles and skills needed to transform your tuckshop including developing a business strategy and plan to take to your Principal with recommendations. Imagine being able to purchase your own car before you turn 18. In this hands-on session you will explore the finance skills needed so you can can save enough money to purchase your first car soon after you achieve your licence. You will learn how to create a budget, how interest can move you faster toward your goal, risk management and the basics of financial literacy.Engineering - Bridge Construction
Discover Civil Engineering at USQ through our Bridge/tower Construction activity. This 45-minute session will see students construct a bridge/tower with limited resources and time constraints and give you a hands-on look at Civil Engineering led by our own UniSQ students.Engineering - Light waves and secret codes

Who doesn’t like LEGO? In this activity we will investigate some mechanical engineering principles using LEGO. We will build a gearbox that will be attached to a motor. You then need to build a LEGO car to support the motor.
