Before the census date
Courses dropped on or before the census date won't appear on your academic record and you won't be liable for the associated course fees or incur a HELP debt.
After the census date up to the academic withdrawal date
Courses dropped after the census date up to the academic withdrawal date will be allocated an administrative grade of WAP (without academic penalty) and won't appear on your academic record, however you will still be liable for the associated course fees or HELP debt.
After the academic withdrawal date
Courses dropped after the academic withdrawal date will be allocated a penalty grade of FLW (Fail late withdrawal) and will remain on your academic record. You will also be liable for the associated course fees or HELP debt.
It's not possible to drop a course after the last day of the semester teaching period.
Withdrawal after census date (Special Circumstances)
If you've experienced adverse, unexpected circumstances which occurred after the census date, and these circumstances have prevented you from undertaking the necessary study to successfully complete the requirements of the course, you may apply to have the course fees refunded or HELP debt remitted and the academic penalty waived. The circumstances must be significant and beyond your control (i.e., not due to your own action or inaction) and must have occurred during the relevant study period).
