The University of Southern Queensland Animal Ethics Committee (UniSQ AEC) is established, and it operates in accordance with the Australian Code for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes, 8th edition, 2013. For further information, please view the Animal Ethics Committee Procedure.

The UniSQ AEC has vacancies in the following member categories

Category Minimum criteria
Category B 
  • have substantial and recent experience in the use of animals for scientific purposes relevant to UniSQ and the business of the AEC
  • possess a higher degree in research or equivalent experience
Category C
  • have a demonstrable commitment to, and established experience in, furthering the welfare of animals
  • not employed by or otherwise associated with UniSQ; and
  • not currently involved in the care and use of animals for scientific purposes
Category D
  • not employed by or otherwise associated with UniSQ
  • never been involved in the use of animals for scientific or teaching activities, either in employment or beyond an undergraduate education
  • not fit the requirements for Category A – C membership
