Overview

This course together with the previous course ELE1502 Electronic Circuits provides the student with an appreciation of most of the analogue and digital building block circuits which are commonly used in electronic equipment. This course continues to focus on developing an understanding of these components, demonstrated through analysis, simulation, construction and testing of circuits.

Familiarity with electronic devices and circuits is fundamental to electrical engineering. The material covered here will further develop both in breadth and depth that which was covered in the preceding courses. Topics to be covered will include: semiconductor devices (discrete and integrated), logic families, multistage amplifiers, operational amplifiers, active filters, negative and positive feedback, oscillators, power supplies and common circuits.
