Midwifery Simulation Centre

USQ’s midwifery simulation centre provides students in the ANMAC accredited Bachelor of Midwifery (Graduate Entry) with state-of-the-art high fidelity simulation equipment that replicate typical midwifery clinical scenarios ranging from the birth of a baby (including a water birthing pool and ensuite) to obstetric and neonatal emergencies.

Students experience realistic simulated learning experiences which promotes the development of critical thinking and specialised practice skills in preparation for their clinical placements within industry. Experiences can be recreated time and time again to ensure accurate acquisition of critical nursing, midwifery and paramedic skills within a safe and supportive environment.

The space is used in collaboration with industry partners for the education and continued professional development of clinicians working in maternity services. Privately practising midwives and midwives working in rural areas of Queensland also attend continued professional development workshops at the Midwifery Simulation Centre.
