The interview process

Our People Services team will advise you of who is on the selection panel upon confirmation of your interview.  Selection panels will typically consist of:

• The hiring manager / supervisor (or a nominee)
• A person from another area of the University
• An additional person (either internal or external to the University)

We will always ensure there is appropriate gender representation on selection panels.

During your interview, you can expect to be asked questions that relate to the following:

• Your professional experience relevant to the role and key requirements

• Your qualifications

• Your reasons or motivation for applying

• Career aspirations

• What you look for in a workplace culture and manager

As we are a values-based organisation, you can also expect that we might ask some questions about how you exhibit these values. Discover how our people live out USQ’s values in their daily lives.

It’s also important not to forget that the interview is not only your opportunity to share information about yourself and your experience with the selection panel, but it’s also a chance for you decide whether the position and UniSQ are the right fit for you too!

Here are some additional tips that might help you when preparing for your interview:

• Take time to get to know USQ and seek to understand how the role fits into the overall organisation.

• Be clear on your key strengths. We want to hear how your strengths, experience, accomplishments and career goals will enable you to succeed at USQ.

• Review the position description and job advertisement so that you know what you’re expected to achieve should you get the role. If you need further clarification on anything, reach out to the Contact listed on the position description.

• Prepare some questions that you might like to ask.These could be about the role more specifically, the team, the culture or UniSQ in general.
